The debates in the field of Caring Societies are conducted in and between various disciplines and societal areas. Research on this topic, which dates back to the 1970s, has become so diverse and differentiated since the 2000s that many new terms and concepts relating to care and caring have emerged and continue to emerge. Many of these terms not only take a critical look at existing economic and social systems, but also point the way towards caring societies.
In this glossary, Ulrike Knobloch and Ann-Christin Kleinert are continuously documenting the current state of the formation of terms on the subject of caring societies, which almost requires its own language. The Care Glossary was first published in August 2022 in the edited volume “Caring Societies – Sorgende Gesellschaften. New Dependencies or More Justice?”.
The publication, edited by Ulrike Knobloch, Hildegard Theobald, Corinna Dengler, Ann-Christin Kleinert, Christopher Gnadt and Heidi Lehner, can be downloaded as an open access version from the publisher.
