Caring Economy

The concept of the caring economy places caring at the center of economic thinking and focuses economic activity in all sectors on caring for others and for oneself, without neglecting the ecological context of caring. A concept of the Caring Economy was developed early on, in which caring activities and ecological processes are understood as fundamental for every economic system (cf. Knobloch/Jochimsen 1993; Jochimsen/Knobloch 1997, 2000: 15 f.). However, later concepts of the Caring Economy in theory and practice also focus on care and provision as well as on ecology and climate (cf. WBG 2020; The Care Collective 2020; see also care economics and Vorsorgendes Wirtschaften).
