In caring societies, care is the fundamental principle of political, economic, and social design and organization. Caring societies are still an ideal or utopia, whose ideas and implementation are being discussed and tested in scientific, political, practical, and activist spaces. The transformation towards a caring society also requires caring institutions and caring organizations, as well as a sustainable and gender-equitable design of care systems and care relationships. While the specialist literature does include the orientation towards a caring society (see, for example, Engster 2007: 118; Social Platform 2012: 6), only a few publications are devoted entirely to this topic (see Oliner/Oliner 1995; Klie 2014; Peters/Vellay 2019).
