The care diamond is a rectangle placed on one of its corners, which can be used to illustrate the structure of care provision and the social care regime (cf. Razavi 2007: 21). This is because care work is provided (at least) in the following four sectors: the public sector (state), the market sector (profit-oriented enterprises) , non-profit sector (non-profit organizations), and the household sector (private households). Synonymously, this is also referred to as a four-sector model.
