In her book “Caring Democracy” (2013), Joan Tronto develops her concept of a caring democracy. This concept requires “that people living in their respective societies take a hard look at the ways in which care responsibilities are unequally distributed. […] Reorganizing how care responsibilities are allocated necessitates that those who are overburdened with them be able to refuse some of those burdens and that those who do not accept their share of responsibility do so” (Tronto 2016: 846).
