Care Responsibility

Responsibility for care encompasses not only the assumption of care work in its various dimensions, but also the planning and organization of the provision of all necessary care services. For Joan Tronto, responsibility for care is the starting point for democratic politics: “What must be distributed equally within a democracy is responsibility for care” (Tronto 2016: 845; see also Tronto 2013, 2017).
