In care work, the distribution of work/division of labor is strongly gendered, because women still perform/continue to perform much more paid and unpaid care work than men. This is mainly due to historical, structural and socialization reasons. The gender care gap can be used to visualize the magnitude of the gendered division of labor in care work.
