Care Arrangements

The term care arrangements refers at the micro level to the interaction of the various formal and informal care activities for the care of an individual. The arrangement, financing, and responsibility of and for care and care work are organized institutionally, politically, socially, and economically. Care arrangements are thus influenced by care systems and care regimes. Care arrangements operate along the lines of public and private spheres as well as along state, market, family/household and civil society. The care arrangement also determines whether and to what extent and where care work is remunerated, where it takes place, by whom and for whom. Care arrangements are often studied in the context of care work by migrant caregivers.
