Care Mainstreaming

In its 2020 position paper, the german Care.Macht.Mehr initiative writes: “Care mainstreaming means that all political measures of all departments take into account the effects on people who bear responsibility for care, who perform care activities or who need care as a mandatory dimension of decisions. This requires a broad social debate about how we want to organize care together, in which the voices of all stakeholders are heard. ” (Care.Macht.Mehr 2020) Care (rights) monitoring or care watch could be developed as an instrument of care mainstreaming, comparable to gender budgeting, which is an instrument for implementing gender mainstreaming.
