The Domestic Workers Convention 189 of the International Labor Organization (ILO), which is called the ILO Convention concerning Decent Work for Domestic Workers in the long version, was adopted in 2011 and has been in force since 2013. In the meantime, it has been ratified by 35 countries, including Germany and Switzerland, but not Austria. The central requirement is “that domestic workers are not disadvantaged compared to other employees with regard to working and living conditions, wages, social security, health, etc.” (Aulenbacher/Lutz/Schwiter 2021: 37).
