The term care givers refers to persons who care for and provide for others. In contrast, persons who are cared for and provided for are referred to as care receivers. These two positions in the care arrangement are not mutually exclusive, all care providers are themselves always dependent on care. Through the effective performance of a care activity, a care relationship is established between the care receiver and the care provider.
