Care receivers are persons who are cared for and provided for, i.e. for whom care work is performed. In contrast, the persons who care for and provide are called care providers. These two positions in the care arrangement are not exclusionary. The effective performance of a care activity creates a care relationship between the care receiver and the care provider.
