Sustainability is a key criterion for shaping social transformation. Societies, organizations and actions are socially and ecologically sustainable if they promote the good and just coexistence of all people, whereby gender justice and care justice must also be included. Sustainable economic activity requires that “the currently prevailing routines and institutions […] change in the direction of sustainability and social cohesion” (Novy/Bärnthaler/Heimerl 2020: 11; see also Jochimsen/Knobloch 1994: 40).
