Care Justice

The principle of care justice combines the two fundamental orientations of care and justice and integrates dependency and vulnerability of people into the thinking of justice. As a form of distributive justice , care equity focuses on what is to be justly distributed, namely care or care work. Care justice can be to people or societies, to a country, a region or even to all countries worldwide. Susan Moller Okin (1989) regards justice as a priority and care as secondary, Virginia Held (2006: 146) considers care to be primary and justice to be secondary. Eva Feder Kittay (1997, 2014) develops a care-based ethics of justice, while Fiona Robinson (1999, 2013) develops a justice-based ethics of care – both in a global context.
