In recent years, there have been strikes in the area of paid care work, especially in hospitals, in order to obtain not only better pay but also, and this is a novelty, to enforce working conditions by means of personnel relief in collective agreements. Care strikes are a part of the care struggles and are supported by both trade unions and civil society. In the course of the worldwide feminist strike movements (see, for example, Precarias a la deriva 2014), it is conceivable that care strikes will spread to other areas of care work, including unpaid care work, in the future.
